But A Purl Ain’t One- Mystery Revealed

As a capper to my first ever mystery KAL, I thought I would post a picture of it and the inspiration behind it. But A Purl Ain’t One is the first pattern I have designed that was driven by the idea instead of the yarn.  Normally I have a concept that I mold to fit the weight of yarn I want to use. This time the concept wouldn’t budge and the weight of yarn had to shift.

My inspiration was a knitter meme off of the Hugo song 99 Problems. The knitter version goes ‘If your having stitch problems, I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems and a purl ain’t one.’  As you can see the pattern had to have 99sts in its cast on and no purl stitches. I want something so heavily cabled that the cables become a texture.  With all those factors in mind I made a sample in fingering weight.    I mathed  the results and I discovered that a small child or a large doll would love the fignering weight cowl. After 5 or so more swatches I got to bulky. Finally I had a cowl that was just right.

I am offering this cowl for free. I hope you enjoy knitting it as much as I enjoyed designing it.  If you have questions regarding any of my designs, please come to my Ravelry group and ask away! I will be glad to help!
